Chakrasana takes its name from the combination of the Sanskrit words “Chakras” and “Asana.”
Chakras are energy centers in the body. Asanas are yoga postures. This class uses a combination of asanas, mudra, bija mantras and pranayama to systematically clear, open and balance all seven major chakras in the body. It finishes with a guided mediation.
Asanas are yoga postures. The asanas in this class are accessible to yoga practioners of all levels. Different variations are given so beginners and even advanced practictioners can practice together and all yield optimal benefits.
Mudras are hand movements that, when held, create different energy circuits in the body.
Bija Mantras are sounds that correspond to each chakra in the body. Each one syllable mantra, although having no literal meaning, activates a different chakra in the body.
Pranayama means breathwork in Sanskrit. Pranyama is not just an addition to yoga classes- it is a separate limb of yoga in its own right.
